National Curriculum

National Curriculum standards for swimming and water safety:

• To swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
• To use a range of strokes effectively.
• To perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

Provision at Fairhouse

We recognise that standards in swimming have been affected due to the pandemic and availability of swimming pools.  Therefore, from September 2022,  children in year 3 will receive a term of weekly 1 hour swimming sessions, folllowed by year 6 children during the Summer term.  These sessions are currenty held at Basildon Sporting Village.
